The Phoenix Mountains Preserve
July 11, 2019
The Phoenix Mountains are near Desert’s Edge RV Resort and the Phoenix area, but you’ll probably want to do more than just see the mountains. After all, if you just wanted to see things, you’d just watch them on your television, right? You decided to go out into the world and get some real firsthand experiences. Well, you can certainly do that when you’re staying here.
The Phoenix Mountain Preserve
While you’re here, why not head on over to the Phoenix Mountains Preserve? There are a variety of things to do there like hiking, biking, and taking in the view.
The second highest point is Piestewa Peak, which at 2,608 feet will give you a truly panoramic view. This is certainly for hikers that are ready for a challenge since the trail is a 1,200 ft elevation gain and is a rocky climb. Looking for another challenge? Try the Shaw Butte Trail, a hiking experience rated as difficult.
Not too Mountainous
If you’re looking for something a little easier going, then head on over to the dreamy draw Recreation Area. Here you’ll find the 3.74-mile Freedom Trail that encircles the base of the peak. You can also do the Quartz Ridge Trail that climbs up to join other trails. Both of those trails are rated as moderate. If you are looking for an easy hike, you can try the Penny Howe Barrier Free Trail at North Mountain Park.
